The campus deadline is the required deadline for all graduate student applicants. The DDRA is an institutional grant program; the UW-Madison applies on your behalf. The national deadline (Closing Date) is the institutional deadline; the campus deadline is for individual students applying through UW-Madison and is not negotiable. Application is only possible through the Fellowships Office of UW-Madison. All application materials and support documents MUST be submitted electronically by 12 PM, Friday, November 13, 2009. This is an entirely electronic submission system, with the exception of one original copy of graduate level transcripts; I request one hard copy of your application for your file here. New application materials will be made available as Word or PDF docs through www.ed.gov/programs/iegpsfra/index.html. The electronic application is accessed through e-grants.ed.gov.

Federal forms will be forwarded by Dr. Erin Crawley to Research and Sponsored Programs for signatures after the campus deadline. The electronic applications and required federal forms will then be submitted electronically to the US Department of Education UW-Madison BEFORE the closing date of the competition.

The entire e-grants system will be closed from 3:00 PM, Tuesday, October 20 through 6:00 AM, Monday, October 26, 2009. You will not be able to access the electronic application system during this time.

You are responsible for submitting a complete and correct application. Please take the time to review the campus materials and the instructions and information available with the application packet; you must submit your application electronically through the electronic application system http://e-grants.ed.gov; if you would like to review the application forms in Word doc or pdf versions, these are available at at http://www.ed.gov/programs/iegpsddrap/applicant.html.

  • Notice for Referees: Student Applicants, you can use the statement in this link to inform your referees of the deadline by which their letters are due electronically. All letters are due by the campus deadline; this competition does not have the flexibility that many referees are used to with the Fulbright-IIE campus competition, so it is important that they know that the campus deadline applies to them. They will receive an email from the e-grants system that only lists the national (institutional) deadline; this deadline does not apply to them.
